The 2009 Pulitzer Prize for General Non-Fiction, Douglas Blackmon, is the keynote speaker at the D.A.B.O community forum for Black History Month.

Detroit, MI – The Detroit Association of Black Business (D.A.B.O.) is excited to present the author of a historically awakening book, Slavery by Another Name: The Re-Enslavement of Black Americans from the Civil War to World War II. On Saturday, February 12, 2011 at 10:00am – 1:00pm Douglas Blackmon, 2009 Pulitzer Prize for General Non-Fiction, will be the keynote speaker at this year’s D.A.B.O community forum. The forum will be hosted at the Triumph Church East Campus/Conference Center located at 2760 East Grand Boulevard, Detroit, MI. Admission for this event is free and open to the public.

Blackmon uncovers the shameful system created to re-enslave African Americans. Under new laws, they were intimidated, arrested, charged with exorbitant fines, and then sold as forced laborers to corporations, mines and plantations or compelled into involuntary servitude. Joining Blackmon in discussing this riveting topic are three local esteemed educators. The featured panelist at this forum are - -
