Senator Hansen Clarke will not pursue the Governor's seat this November. In a statement released today he said “I deeply appreciate your support and have arrived at this decision only after a great deal of thoughtful consideration.”Senator Clarke also said in the statement that he will still “work on cutting insurance costs, creating and saving jobs, helping families, and generating sustainable economic growth in our state.”
This leaves the field for the Democratic Party wide open for such maybe candidates as Andy Dillon, Denise Ilitch, and Alma Wheeler Smith just to name a few. With Mike Cox still in the Republican lead for the nomination this race is getting heated with only one player actually in the game (As far as I know Mike Cox is the only actual candidate).
Now the questions will be. Who will be the Democratic Party candidate for Michigan Governor for 2010? VOTE Michigan, you get what you VOTE for.
