24-hours of gunfire

A synopsis of this weekend shootings are as follows:

Friday, Aug. 12:
-- 8:12 a.m.: In the 16700 block of Biltmore, a 36 year-old man was approached by the suspect who fired shots that killed him. The suspect fled on foot. Police are searching for a 30-year-old male. Anyone with information on this crime should call the Homicide unit at (313) 596-2260.
-- 6:50 p.m.: In the area of Dexter and Davidson, a 20-year-old man was walking to the basketball court when the suspect in a vehicle pulled up and fired shots. The victim received a gunshot wound and was listed in temporary serious condition. The 24-year-old suspect escaped in the vehicle. Anyone with information should call the 10th Precinct’s Investigative Operations at (313) 596-1040.
-- 7:55 p.m.: At Warren and St. Antoine, a 40-year-old man was traveling at a high rate of speed when he struck a pole and tree. The victim was taken to a local hospital and died. He had received a gunshot wound to the body. The suspect is unknown. Anyone with information should call Homicide unit at (313) 596-2260.
-- 9:00 p.m.: At Harper and Bluehill, a 14-year-old boy told police he had an altercation with a suspect driving a vehicle. The suspect fired shots and escaped in the vehicle. The victim was struck and listed in temporary serious condition. The suspect is unknown. Police said the victim is being less than truthful and has had three different versions of what happened. Anyone with information should call the Eastern District’s Investigative Operations at (313) 596-5940.
-- 9:00 p.m.: At Colfax and Oregon, the victim, a 15-year-old boy told police that he was walking, heard a shot and felt pain. The victim received a gunshot wound to the body and was listed in temp-serious condition. Police said the investigation so far indicates that this was a self inflicted wound.

Saturday, Aug. 13
-- 12:01 a.m.: In the 200 block of W. Greendale, a backyard party was being held to celebrate the return of a person who was just released from prison. During the celebration, shots were fired and five victims were struck. A 16-year-old boy was killed, an 18-year-old male is in series condition, a 16- year-old boy and 18-year-old man are in temporary serious condition and a 19 year-old male is in stable condition. The suspect or suspects are unknown. Police said people at the gathering are not providing information on the shooter(s). Anyone with information should call the Homicide unit at (313) 596-2260.
-- 1:50 a.m.: In the 17300 block of Greenfield, several suspects approached a 20-year-old man as he changed a tire. As the suspects attempted to rob the victim, he ran. The suspect(s) fired shots, striking the victim. He was listed in serious condition. The suspects fled from the location. Anyone with information should call the Sixth and Eighth Precincts’ Investigative Operations at (313) 596-5640.
-- 3:25 a.m.: In the 9000 block of Robson, a 21-year-old man attempted to assist his mother during a physical altercation with the suspect. The suspect fired shots, killing the man. The suspect fled the location. Police are seeking a 39-year-old male suspect. Anyone with information should call the Homicide unit at (313) 596-2260.
-- 3:25 a.m.: In the 4000 block of Harding, a 35 year-old man, a 38-year-old man and the suspect, a 46-year-old man, along with other people weregambling inside the location. An altercation occurred and shots were fired by the victims and suspect. The 35-year-old and 38-year-old were killed and the suspect was listed in critical condition. Anyone with information should call the Homicide unit at (313) 596-2260.
